“I really enjoy tackling reality with paint and brushes.” Rutger Hiemstra (1975) is a 'figurative painter'. His subjects range from still lifes of food and (dead) animals to landscape paintings of Groningen and the Alps: “I try to paint as many different subjects as possible. There are so many beautiful things in life.” We visited Rutger in his studio in Paterswolde, where he tells more about his working method.

From October 21 to December 3, 2022, his work can be seen in the Kunstuitleen of Kunstpunt Groningen in the solo exhibition The Usual Stuff.
