In the studio of Muzammil Hussain
Muzammil Hussain (1996) is fascinated by the animal kingdom and its similarities to human behavior. His paintings often feature animals and human-animal figures. By combining human characteristics with animal forms and everyday situations, these beings resemble Pokémon or WhatsApp stickers. Through mixing the familiar with the imaginative, he explores the boundaries between reality and imagination, nature and artificiality, challenging societal norms and their limitations.
From October 31 to December 21, 2024, he will present Chasing Ballad of the Changing Baton, a duo exhibition with artist Tosja van Lieshout, in the art lending gallery of Kunstpunt Groningen. We visited Muzammil in his studio, where he shared more about his work.
