In the studio of Cas van Deurssen
Cas van Deurssen (1994) is a visual artist who frequently works with materials such as epoxy, transparent canvases, and aluminum frames. From February 1 to March 8, 2025, he will present fifteen new (smaller) works in his solo exhibition Pipes & Plastics at the Kunstuitleen of Kunstpunt Groningen. Starting March 5, 2025, a large installation of his will be on display at the Tschumipavilion on Hereplein in Groningen. We visited Cas in his two studios, where he shared more about his work and inspiration.
"The work I create is largely derived from daily routines, storefront displays, and showcasing—structures that allow me to reveal things but also to conceal them. Much of my inspiration comes from how we relate to the objects we see in our daily lives. It’s a reflection of myself, but also of universal themes: society, the city, and the people."
