Boeteburger Project
“We create waste by living, just like any organism does. As a result, on our journey towards a more sustainable future, it is important to look not only at how we can avoid waste, but also at what we do with our existing waste. I design a future where we partner with nature built on the waste we have created, creating a cycle where waste is never waste. The Boeteburger Project uses Styrofoam-eating mealworms to turn waste into a snack. Mealworms feed on a diet of Styrofoam packaging collected from waste streams. Over time, they consume the material and convert it into energy for growth. When the mealworms are saturated, they are collected, euthanized, ground and fried Finally, a delicious hamburger is prepared and served.Eat your own waste with the Boeteburger!
The Boeteburger Project sketches a reality that lies between reality and speculation. Mealworms can break down real Styrofoam (polystyrene plastic) and convert it into harmless organic waste. The plastic is broken down chemically by enzymes. Even microplastics are broken down, but can people eat the mealworms again?”
About project 'Lucht'
The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Marc Paulusma. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
