Seating objects at the Remonstrant Church garden, Coehoornsingel 14
Art commissions for companies
Client: Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken
In the semi-public courtyard of the Remonstrant Church, between the church, the entrance building and the sexton’s house, Erna de Bie created four seating objects.
The client, Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken, wanted to transform this car park into a garden. Through the use of materials, the seating objects of hard stone and wood refer to the entrance building to the church, designed by the Japanese architect Morika Kira, and the garden design by Govert Visser, which was inspired by the Japanese style and Dutch minimalism.
The Stichting Oude Groninger kerken (Old Groningen Churches Foundation) is dedicated to the preservation of church buildings as monuments and to promoting interest in them.
