My recent paintings are an exploration of animals and human-animal hybrids, being fascinated with the animal kingdom and its parallels in human behavior. These hybrids originate from detailed sketches of animals, evolving into reductive figuers by adding human attributes and every day objects.Depicting these hybrids in everyday scenarios, they can be seen as toys, WhatsApp stickers, real-life NFT collections, Pokémon, or perhaps even deities in the temple of capitalism. Themes of partying, decadence, extravagance, love, simplicity, and innocence are the point of referance, serving as both inspiration and critique of societal norms. My work is heavily influenced by hip-hop and pop culture, its connection to the social media. The concept of human-animal hybrids is not new; it has been present in various cultures for centuries, from Egyptian gods to Greek mythology to Hundu theology and beyond. Reinterpreting these ancient themes through a personal lens allows me to challenge societal definitions and their limitations, offering a playful yet profound commentary on identity and existence.
