Lieve van Loon
Lieve graduated cum laude from Minerva Art Academy in 2024 with her project 'The reshaping of the everyday'. Lieve works from fascinations for everyday scenes, objects and shapes. She then gives these scenes, objects and shapes a character or personality of their own, using her own shape language. She portrays her fascinations with different materials and techniques. Such as pencil drawings, ceramics, woodcuts and stained glass. Lieve does this by reproducing an object several time and in different ways. The traditional processing of a material also plays a role in this. This way, the fascination becomes visible in the image.
The reshaping of everyday objects and scenes is an important theme in Lieve's work. Rescaling, adding colour and taking an object out of its context provide new surprising images that give her and her audience the space to reflect on the work and to relate to it. This way she shows the viewer normal scenes form a different perspective and allows them to get reacquainted with the existing things around us.
