Lieve van Loon

Painting, Drawing, Graphic, Spatial work, Illustration

A satisfied table and chair after a busy dinner, the pear in the fruit bowl waiting to be eaten. The work of Lieve van Loon (Groningen, 2002) shows everyday scenes that we no longer really notice, but do tell a story. Lieve has a fascination with everyday objects and reshapes them until they lose their function and take on a form of their own. By placing the objects into scenes, she emphasizes their mutual relationship and shows everyday moments of coming together. Lieve does this by using various materials and techniques such as paintings, pencil drawings, and stained glass. Lieve wants to show the viewer the beauty in the simplicity of objects and the way they interact. This way, she invites the viewer to look more closely at what connects us.
