Jan de Wringer

Artist

I remember little of my birth (1947) in a hut by the sea. In 1957 I decided to become a tightrope walker. That failed, the rope was too short and I was afraid of heights. I repressed this failure and erased it from my memory.
In 1964 I enrolled as a student at the Academy in Rotterdam, Department of Graphic Design. After graduating in 1968, I started working as a graphic designer.

In ± 2011 I stopped as a graphic designer and started a search in a labyrinth of countless creative possibilities.
With pastels, acrylics, oil paint, scratches in foam board, monoprints I make (self) portraits, landscapes, human figures, animals.
Through trial and error, in shaky balance, I became a tightrope walker after all.
