Irene Verbeek (May 5, 1945) has built up a versatile oeuvre since the 1960s. It covers the areas of free painting, monumental art and graphic art (including the book-as-work of art). She also taught, over a period of 43 years, at Werkschuit, the Academy for Social and Cultural Labor (ASCA), the Groningen Institute for Expression and Communication (GIEK) and, in the period 1973-2013, in her own studio and in a small school that she founded herself.
