Sound art, Artist book

My work stems from an interest in the place that I am. Questions that keep recurring are: what makes a place a place, what does it mean to be somewhere? To find out, I like to go to places I don't know yet. I am most fascinated by areas that are on some sort of boundary, for example between land and water, between solid and liquid, between fact and fiction. Once I arrive at a place, I walk and I listen, as layered as possible. I listen to its sounds, super- and subsurface, and record those. In addition, I look for local stories, music, histories or scientific insights that also tell me something about the place. Collected material eventually comes together in sound installations, listening or sound walks and scores. I present these in exhibitions or as an event, both in the Netherlands and abroad.
