Alida Everts

Alida Everts was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen. She works multidisciplinary: painting, drawing, collage and she makes spatial work. Her work is in private collections and various arthotheques in the Netherlands. She regularly exhibits at home and abroad.

A flower never grows alone.

Everything that grows is connected to 'Everything else'. A flower or plant is always part of its environment. Origin, bloom and transience are recurring themes in my work. For my spatial work I consciously choose the material clay, because this is the earth in which the cycle takes place. The clay is kneaded into floral shapes in a natural way. The growth process has been recorded and thus the transience is petrified. In my floral paintings I use pasty oil paint in combination with acrylic paint and ink.
