Fascinated by the absurdity of daily life, Alexandra Subota creates mixed-media art. In 2021, she completed her Master in Fine Arts at the Frank Mohr Institute. She previously obtained her Bachelor in Fine Arts at AKI ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design in Enschede.

Alexandra’s work is characterized by strong colours, soft materials, fluff, glitter and shiny surfaces. With playfulness and irony, she is engaging in the pursuit of desires such as pleasure, fun and freedom, although their quest is inevitably accompanied by the disappointments of the banal, everyday life.

Taking on the contrast of idyll and reality, innocent cuteness and resilient toughness, Alexandra coats gloom with layers of glossy, cheerful sweetness, surrounding violence with cynical cuteness.
