Tile tableau with central living theme

Hanneke van Doesburg

About this artwork.

The piece of art by Hanneke van Doesburg consists of 120 ceramic tiles on the outside wall of De Heerd residential complex. In this block, everyone lives independently, but certain spaces and facilities, such as gardens and laundry and hobby rooms, are shared. The pictures on the tiles, in which Van Doesburg incorporated the logo of the National Association for Central Housing, symbolise De Heerd's living principle. A second piece of art, also depicting central living, can be found in the communal garden of the residential complex. It was made in 1986 by Jan Tengbergen.

Hanneke van Doesburg created the artwork in 1982, following a commission from the Residents' Association for Central Living, De Heerd.
