Stepping Stones

Lambert Kamps

About this artwork.

On four squares in the Briljantstraat you will find a number of round, concrete blocks. As a single one, or stacked and connected to each other. The blocks have various sizes, and encourage movement, but you can also sit on them. The modern hieroglyphs of moving people that are depicted on the edges of the Stepping Stones come from graphic design agency De Ronners.

About the assignment.

Artist and designer Lambert Kamps was asked by the partners of the Akkoord van Groningen ('Groningen Agreement') to develop this project in collaboration with the Center for Human Movement Sciences of the University of Groningen and the UMCG. The researchers want to know which setup offers children the most challenge to move.

The project was previously on display in Selwerd and at the Martinikerkhof.

Location.

Briljantstraat 49 (binnenterrein), Briljantstraat 161 (binnenterrein), Briljantstraat 241 (binnenterrein), Briljantstraat 353 (binnenterrein)
