Hive Mind

Nomad Clan

About this artwork.

A large, mysterious-looking mural has been painted on one of the houses on Zilverlaan in Vinkhuizen. From a stone head broken in two, reminiscent of an ancient sculpture, all kinds of mushrooms, plants and trees sprout. The painting was made by Nomad Clan. The artist duo from Manchester specialises in large murals in which they combine a hyper-realistic, detailed style with fantastic and supernatural elements.

The mural is part of a project between Writer’s Block, a production house for street art from Leeuwarden, and the Groninger Museum. For this purpose, murals were painted in Vinkhuizen, Paddepoel and Beijum by national and international artists. The mural by Nomad Clan in Vinkhuizen has dark colours and melancholic elements, but nevertheless expresses an optimistic idea. The idea behind the work is that despite all differences, everyone shares one nature, has a shared basis. Everyone belongs.
