Kalfje (Little calf)

About this artwork.

The stone calf in the grounds of the primary school looks like a newborn calf trying to get up; calves usually stand on their own feet and start walking within an hour of their birth. The sculpture references the moment when a four-year-old toddler goes to school for the first time.
