About Mieke Raatjes
Mieke Raatjes (1984, Hoogezand) graduated from the Minerva Academy in Fine Art in 2006. In her work she explores the relationship between her inner world and the outside world, inspired by nature and the connection between body and mind. Mieke mainly works with watercolor paint, ink, pencil and chalk on paper. “I start with a sketch and work in layers to create a coherent image. I leave some parts unedited and emphasize others, guided by feeling and interaction with the work.”
About the display window
The display window of the former Vapiano building on Nieuwe Markt has been temporarily designated as a pop-up art rental service in 2024. Every two weeks, a piece by a Groningen artist will be featured in the center window. This artwork is also available for purchase or rent through Kunstpunt’s art rental service.
Additionally, the window alternately shows work from the regular Art Rental Collection and the Studio Collection – art that comes directly from the studios of northern artists.
