About Marja Hagenauw
Marja Hagenauw has a fascination with architecture, buildings and spaces. She loves the city and moving through it without a goal or a map. She wanders for hours through major cities such as Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Beirut, Tehran, New York. What she sees during these wanderings inspires her to make her paintings and drawings. Her works are created as she wanders through the cities: she does not know in advance what they will look like. In 2012 she graduated from Minerva Academy in Fine Art. Since 2014 she has been working from her studio in the Biotoop in Haren.
About the display window
The display window of the former Vapiano building on Nieuwe Markt has been temporarily designated as a pop-up art rental service in 2024. Every two weeks, a piece by a Groningen artist will be featured in the center window. This artwork is also available for purchase or rent through Kunstpunt’s art rental service.
Additionally, the window alternately shows work from the regular Art Rental Collection and the Studio Collection – art that comes directly from the studios of northern artists.
