About Maaike Nijlunsing
Maaike Nijlunsing graduated from the Minerva Academy in 2000 and makes paintings with acrylic paint. She has a great fascination with buildings in disrepair. She visits these often deserted places with a camera. In her studio, the resulting photos are converted into images, with acrylic paint on canvas or wood. Maaike lives and works in Noordbroek, Groningen. In addition to creating her own paintings, she gives workshops to children and adults in painting, printing and textile design.
About the display window
The display window of the former Vapiano building on Nieuwe Markt has been temporarily designated as a pop-up art rental service in 2024. Every two weeks, a piece by a Groningen artist will be featured in the center window. This artwork is also available for purchase or rent through Kunstpunt’s art rental service.
Additionally, the window alternately shows work from the regular Art Rental Collection and the Studio Collection – art that comes directly from the studios of northern artists.
