Çisil Deniz Delibalta (1996, Türkiye) is a multidisciplinary artist currently living and working in Groningen. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Painting from Marmara University of Fine Arts in Istanbul and her master’s degree at the Frank Mohr Institute.

Her work centers on the collection of objects from her childhood and everyday surroundings, exploring how memories are connected to these items. She is particularly interested in the dynamic between change and stability in life, using objects to create a memory palace as a way to explore the balance between the two.

“We live surrounded by many objects in our daily lives, relying on them to sustain various aspects of life. Sometimes, these objects lose their functionality, yet they continue to exist through the personal meaning we give them, transforming into ‘things.’ It’s through these things that people, places, and events etched in our memories are often recalled. They hold fragments of moments—moments that sometimes need to be remembered to grasp what we couldn’t fully observe at the time.”

Çisil Deniz Delibalta’s work is on display from van  12 – 16 September in the window of the pop-up Art Rental on the Nieuwe Markt.

The display window of the former Vapiano building on Nieuwe Markt has been temporarily designated as a pop-up art rental service in 2024. Every two weeks, a piece by a Groningen artist will be featured in the center window. This artwork is also available for purchase or rent through Kunstpunt’s art rental service.

Additionally, the window alternately shows work from the regular Art Rental Collection and the Studio Collection – art that comes directly from the studios of northern artists.
