Charlie Holper

“Repetition: Lines”
Textile on wooden frame
106 x 86 cm
€ 2.500 / € 34,06 a month*

Charlie Holper (Luxembourg 1997) graduated from the Frank Mohr Institute in Groningen with a focus on abstract colorful textile works that vary between being 2 and 3 dimensional. Their installations can be described as paintings you can walk into and their wall works as pieces of installations that walked off to live on their own.

They work with a minimal visual vocabulary, with lots of repetition of the same elements and a focus on color. At the core their work is a collaboration with their inner child on a mission to create works they would have loved to explore as a kid.

Their Repetition works are a very conscious exploration of the repetitive and meditative art making process as well as a further examination of their more 2-dimensional works. They serve as a re-examination of their background in painting in a medium that is not actually dependent on the frame.

Charlie Holpers work is on display from van  3 – 24 October in the window of the pop-up Art Rental on the Nieuwe Markt.

The display window of the former Vapiano building on Nieuwe Markt has been temporarily designated as a pop-up art rental service in 2024. Every two weeks, a piece by a Groningen artist will be featured in the center window. This artwork is also available for purchase or rent through Kunstpunt’s art rental service.

Additionally, the window alternately shows work from the regular Art Rental Collection and the Studio Collection – art that comes directly from the studios of northern artists.
