'Corpus' by Bastiaan de Groot has been given a new place. From 1999 to 2006 you could see the statue in the central reservation on the Siersteenlaan. After the refurbishment of the Siersteenlaan, two large works of art remained standing on the two roundabouts of the Siersteenlaan – Two Nights (1995) by Kie Ellens and Zonder titel (1997) by Gjalt Blaauw – and 'Corpus' went to the municipal art storage facility.
Until local residents of the Oosterpoort submitted a request for a work of art for their neighborhood garden 'de Feithhof'. This small park in the Herewegbuurt has been renovated on the initiative of and by local residents. According to them, the arrival of a work of art would complete the courtyard and increase the quality of life.
Representatives from the neighborhood visited the municipal art store with our colleague Diana. There was one work of Belgian bluestone that was appropriate. A few months later, 8 men and women from the neighborhood carried the almost 400 kg heavy natural stone the last meters into place. Last Saturday was the festive unveiling of 'de Feithhof' and the artwork. Artist Bastiaan de Groot was also present.
