Multiple by Eirik Jahnsen
Artist Eirik Jahnsen was commissioned by the Kunstuitleen van Kunstpunt to create a series of unique works of art made of metal.
Eirik Jahnsen: “I sculpt with light. In this series of works I play with the contrast between the robust industrial material and the elusive light that reflects in it. By transforming metal I create unexpected shapes, colors and surfaces. After molding the material, I start painting with fire. This initiates an oxidation process. The chemical reaction creates eye-catching colors that go from nowhere to gold and blue. My experimental way of working and the dialogue that my work enters into with the public makes this multiple unique.”

Special presale
Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists in their professional practice with commissioned art. This is made possible in part thanks to the membership fees of the Kunstuitleen borrowers. That is why there is a special pre-sale for them. The presale for Kunstuitleen borrowers starts on Monday 24 October. The multiple will be available to everyone from Tuesday 25 October. Be quick! Last year’s multiple sold out within a day.
In order of incoming mails, interested parties are invited to view the multiples by appointment in the Kunstuitleen.
Do you also want access to the presale in the future? Become a borrower of the Kunstuitleen. Read here how borrowing works.
About Eirik Jahnsen
Eirik Jahnsen (1985) lives and works in Groningen, but grew up in Bergen, Norway. He got a lot of inspiration from that. “I was surrounded by an impressive landscape with mountains on the one hand and city life on the other. That’s an interesting clash between two worlds. In my work I often use things that normally do not belong together.” After Eirik obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Minerva Academy in 2017, he graduated as a Master of Painting at the Frank Mohr Institute in 2021. More information about him can be found here.
