About this activity.

Although born in Breda, I was not raised Catholic. Yet I was captivated at an early age by the symbolism and kitschy expressions of the Catholic faith in my environment. I especially like the image of Mary. The devout and serene image is soothing.

In Portugal I saw a sardine can with a statue of Mary in it at a market. That's where my inspiration came from. Since then I have started making them as a 'home craft'. I give them as a gift and as a can of 'hope and comfort' especially at this time.

I like to make them a lot, also to order and preferably for someone personally.
