From September 1st, the solo exhibition 'WAIT FOR END 🤣🤣🤣' featuring recent works by Wouter Nijland will be on display at Kunstpunt's Art Rental. The abstract paintings showcased in this exhibition have a unique origin: they are created using encoded marbles, coins, and dice. If you wish to enjoy Wouter Nijland's paintings for a longer period, you have the option to borrow or purchase them from Kunstpunt.
At first glance, you wouldn't believe it, but Wouter Nijland's work is dependent on chance – much like daily life, his primary source of inspiration. Prior to embarking on a new artwork, Nijland begins with a working plan, designing the painting and determining details such as size and composition. Then, he leaves it all to chance. What should be the degree angle of a line? A bucket full of marbles numbered from 1 to 360 decides. Should a section be colored? A toss of a coin will answer with 'yes' or 'no'. It's a painting process with a clear beginning and a guaranteed end, but the final outcome remains uncertain until the last brushstroke. In short: wait for end 😉.
ABOUT WOUTER NIJLAND
Wouter Nijland (Woldendorp, 1980) graduated from Academie Minerva in the field of Autonomous Visual Arts in 2007. Just before that, in 2006, he initiated his painting system, in which the 'duel between chance and planning,' as he describes it, gives birth to the painting. Since his graduation, he has exhibited in Amsterdam, New York, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Den Bosch, and Groningen. His work has been acquired both within and outside the Netherlands, finding its way into the collections of several prominent collectors. "But actually, it doesn't matter to me who buys my work, as long as the buyer loves the work and takes good care of it."
In the exhibition, also explore "The Choice of Wouter Nijland," where Wouter shares his favorite pieces from the Art Rental collection.

This exhibition is part of the Ateliercollectie: Solo series, in which Kunstpunt presents the works of northern artists directly from their studios.
'WAIT FOR END 🤣🤣🤣' will be on display at Kunstpunt until October 14th. During expOOST, on Saturday, September 23rd, Wouter Nijland will be present at Kunstpunt from 14:00 to 16:00 to discuss his work and artistic approach.
