About this activity.
During the months of November and December, Radina Kordova (Bulgaria) and Samantha Pellarini (Venezuela) will be guests at the Bierumer School as artist-in-residence. On Saturday, January 4th is the presentation of their working period and then the exhibition will continue until Saturday, February 1st.
With their project in the Bierumer School, both artists will connect their individual working practices around themes such as; water memory, ecological identity, recycling, world building and myths. Their work unfolds in the coastal landscape of Bierum, where the whispers of the sea, the land and local myths come together in a larger, interconnected narrative. Radina and Samantha strive to create speculative realities where ecological memory and material impermanence tell stories. Through performative soundscapes, sculptures and installations, their work evolves with the landscape itself.
During a two-month research and development period, Radina and Samantha collect natural and used materials from the region's shorelines while connecting with local human and non-human environments. During their stay at the Bierumer School, they navigate stories and experiences related to water and landscape. From sonic archives to hydro-sounds, myths, material research and collecting natural materials, each element captures and amplifies the voices of both human and non-human entities, in relation to the transformation of the area.
Their research and working period at the Bierumer School is part of the Network Culture & Nature development process. Through interdisciplinary collaborations with experts in the fields of science, marine biology, ecology and bio-material research, they no deeper into the transformation of the region's environment in relation to historical and current human activities on the coast and at sea.
The opening of the exhibition Vida - Вода <<< hydroghosts and the murmurs we cannot sea>> will take place on Saturday, January 4, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Bierumer School offers artists space for production and presentation and is open to the public every Friday and Saturday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
