About this activity.

Sverre van der Velde (Groningen, 2000) is an artist working in the field of lens-based media and text. He is particularly fascinated by the relationship between man and landscape, believing that one’s identity is deeply rooted in the environment in which one lives.

Sverre graduated last year from the Minerva art academy in Groningen. There Lydia Wierenga (artist and founder OFF HOOK) saw his video installation “The king must sleep now”. For this installation Sverre delved into his relationship with the person he is named after: Sverrir Sigurdsson, king of Norway (1151-1202). A dialogue is created through dreams. Lydia invited Sverre to show this beautiful work again at OFF HOOK during a weekend presentation.

OFF HOOK.

OFF HOOK is an artist run space for contemporary art and exhibitions. It’s located at the corner of a former chemistry laboratory in Groningen, the Netherlands.

OFF HOOK is founded by Dutch artist Lydia Wierenga, with the goal to invite artists to “do what they want”.

OFF HOOK will also present screen-prints in limited editions and “a little something on the side”.

Opening hours: every Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
