STIGMA | Sojung Lee

About this activity.

During July and August, South Korean Sojung Lee was a guest at the Bierumer School as artist-in-residence. Sojung Lee is a visual artist and her work explores the relationship between image and information.

In recent months, Sojung Lee has created new work during her residency at the Bierumer School. She has been working with text, images and objects and presents it in the first classroom and the attic of the former school. 

Her work is also part of the studio route from Eems to Westeremden on Saturday 31 August, Sunday 1 and Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September from 12.00-17.00. The Bierumer School will then also feature work by Anne Oldenhuis, who will present her Stoetboom project. With the cooperation of people from the region, she made a flag line incorporating photos of children with the procession tree along with memories of those same children now that they are adults. She highlights this typical regional custom and shows the power of stories, imagination and open-mindedness. 

The opening of the exhibition STIGMA will take place on Friday 30 August from 14:00 - 17:00.
