SIMULACRA – Artist collective De Tegel

Afslag BLV
2 March 2025 to 18 May 2025

About this activity.

Artist collective De Tegel (2023) investigates in SIMULACRA in Afslag BLV, branch of Museum Belvédère, how images, materials and concepts shift in meaning. What is real and what is a copy? In a world where images, technology and culture shape our perception, the boundary between original and reproduction is blurring.

Simulacra, a term from the work of philosopher Jean Baudrillard, refers to copies that either never had an original or no longer have an original — creating a reality that is self-referential rather than based on an external truth. Through critical reflection and mutual dialogue, the four autonomous artists Abel Kamps, Indira de Boer, Jens Buis and Sverre van der Velde individually developed new work. The works are personal reflections on Baudrillard's concept and balance between recognition and alienation, between construction and illusion, and invite the viewer to re-question reality.

All four artists graduated from the Minerva Academy in Groningen in 2024.
