Dick Alle Huppes, Arne Hellwege, Jochem van der Hoek and Radina Kordova make new self-made sound installations, interactive instruments with performances in which image and sound come together and generate each other. Interactivity and human behavior patterns play a major role in all works.

Jochem van der Hoek uses office supplies with their soothing simplicity, deliberate lack of meaning and universality as an instrument. In this way, these everyday objects form a source of sound and music. At Snare Drum Controlled Clipart Slideshow, every visitor can play the drum themselves. Each beat shows a different image from Jochem van der Hoek's Clip Art CD-ROM collection from the 90s. The drum functions as a performative mouse click.

Arne Hellwege's Commoveo is new work specially developed for SIGN. It is an interactive installation in which resonance is investigated. The visitor can interact with a series of 13 matched organ pipes through an interface and create tonal sequences.

Dick Alle Huppes follows human movement patterns in SIGN and translates these through a type of drag construction on the ceiling. A rail with hanging aluminum dragnet follows the movements of the visitors. Sensors register the movements and control it.

Radina Kordova's work in all its manifestations is a narrative, auditory and visual imagination arising from her unfinished novella. The focus is on catastrophic distress and stress but also radiates hope. Rituals and collaborations provide the incantation and possible redemptions. Costumes, role playing, self-made instruments such as harps, cello cubes and ritual workshops or performances: everything contributes to the formation of the story.

The opening will take place next Saturday, October 15 at 5 p.m., but there are also various moments after that to participate in workshops, watch performances or play the self-made instruments of the artists.
