'Peace in the Brugstraat' by Marius de Schaar

From 1 to 30 June 2024, Marius de Schaar, artist from Finchhouses, will exhibit a paper cut-out work in black paper 'Peace in the Brugstraat' in the window gallery 'De Prachtvink' at the Vinkhuizen shopping center, Platinalaan 505a, 9743 GZ Groningen.

'Peace in the Brugstraat' is a paper cutout of 40 x 30 cm in black paper from 2023. The Brugstraat is one of the oldest streets in the almost thousand-year-old city of Groningue with numerous monuments from centuries ago. And for centuries it has been a busy street of comings and goings, from east to west and back. The houses, although renovated countless times, have seen many generations pass by, all of them stubborn and often young people who certainly know how the world works. Fortunately, stubbornness usually passes and unfortunately the day comes for everyone when they’re no longer able to walk through the Brugstraat, but Groningen cherishes its street so that it may remain for at least another thousand years in this happy country where there often is whining, but little fighting. In which city can you meet a stranger who joyfully greets you with the V sign? It is peace in the Brugstraat!

Marius de Schaar has been a cutting artist since 2009. He makes New Dutch cutting work. He likes to take his subjects from his immediate environment, from toothpaste to garbage can. Marius has a special interest in the architecture of the Netherlands. He likes to capture buildings with his scissors, from church to apartment building. Marius de Schaar has exhibited in various galleries and museums, including the Rijksmuseum. His work is included in various private collections.

The window gallery is an exhibition space that can only be viewed from the outside, but 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The gallery is illuminated until 11:00 PM.

Every month a new work of art by an artist is exhibited.

Raamgalerie De Prachtvink is een 24-uurs galerie aan Platinalaan 505a bij Winkelcentrum Vinkhuizen. De galerie heeft als specialiteit internationale mail art.
