About this activity.

In the pop-up window gallery of the Kunstuitleen at the Nieuwe Markt, the work of a different Groningen artist is the focus every three weeks. The work of Hanneke van Limburg can be seen in the coming weeks.

“My work is characterized by color and rhythm. I graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.

My specialty at the time: Screen printing, Composer design and Typography. And in addition, designing textile design for interiors, by using typographic letter structures, or parts thereof.

Originating from the South of the Netherlands, I ended up in Groningen via Amsterdam in the early 80s, where I further developed my visual artistry under the name Hanneke van Limburg. As an organizer of exhibitions; setting up children’s activities within daycare and as a curator of exhibitions, I have gained a lot of experience.

Over time, I have started to combine the collages, assemblages and embroideries that I make in order to to deepen and expand my field of expertise. My collected composite objects have grown into Bedenkdingen. Still multi-coloured, humorous and with a wink to life now.”

About the window gallery
The window of the former Vapiano building on Nieuwe Markt has a temporary role as a pop-up art rental service. In addition to the rotating display of work by a Groningen artist, the window also showcases pieces from Kunstuitleen’s regular art collection and the Studio Collection – art sourced directly from the studios of northern artists – as well as videos of the artists' work processes.
