What can we do with Groningen products such as potato starch, hemp and magnesium? In the Forum, Jack Brandsma presents the ongoing material research Material Magic, in collaboration with Academy Minerva.
Material Magic is an ongoing material research project of Academy Minerva, led by Jack Brandsma. In recent years, experiments have been carried out with hemp, magnesium and potato starch to further investigate the potential of these materials from Groningen. To further stimulate this, the Innovation Hub East Groningen (IHOG) has been established. The first prototypes made with the aforementioned materials will be on display in the Forum, including a magnesium/hemp version of Gerrit Rietveld's well-known slatted chair, made by fourth-year student Eimert Fossen. After Noorderzon, the presentation will be on display in the Material Matters expo during London Design Week from 20 to 23 September.
In addition to Material Magic, part of the Caterpillar 100 can also be seen in the Forum and in the Noorderplantsoen during the festival.
