KLADMUUR: Graffiti artwork by Quik and Mick La Rock

Groninger Archieven
26 September 2024 to 30 November 2024

About this activity.

View the new graffiti artwork under the Emmaviaduct, created especially for the Month of History by internationally renowned graffiti artists Quik and Mick La Rock. What is special is that they have previously worked together on a mural at this location. This was in 1992 on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition Coming from the Subway in the Groninger Museum. The Groninger Museum went all out with this and many New York subway artists, including Quik, were brought to Groningen. It made him decide to settle here for a period of fourteen years.

Quik (Lin Felton, 1958) has had a great influence on the graffiti scene in the city and his work is still cherished. Mick La Rock (Aileen Middel, 1970) from Groningen came into contact with graffiti artists from New York partly due to the attention for graffiti in the Groninger Museum. She is one of the first and most famous female graffiti artists in Europe.
