About this activity.

You are welcome to the opening of Klaske Bootsma's exhibition at Y2 Damsterdiep on Sunday, February 23 from four o'clock in the afternoon.
After that, you can come by on Saturday 1 March from 1pm to 5pm and Sunday 2 March from 2pm to 6pm. The exhibition can also be visited by appointment (by phone: 06 11 43 92 11).

Klaske Bootma studied at Minerva and Frank Mohr. She lives and works in Groningen.
Last year she had exhibitions in Block C (Groningen) and Afslag BLV (dependance Belvédère, Heerenveen), among others.
Last month, together with Bas Schippers, she had an exhibition in the building of Peter van Ginkel artist's supplies (Groningen).
Now she is coming to Y2 Damsterdiep with (new) work.

About Klaske Bootsma:

Although Klaske painted and drew from an early age, she did not gradate from Minerva in 2018 in painting. This is because of a love-hate relationship with this medium: “I think that's because I really want to be able to do it very well and I have a certain image of what a painting should be. The work I do is not necessarily the same as that”

After a period of experimentation, her passion for painting returned. During the further education of Frank Mohr (graduated in 2023), Klaske discovered that not pre-defined ideas but the painting process itself was her greatest motivation: “The focus was more on making itself and that was really an eye-opener for me”.

In 2024 she exhibited in Block C (Groningen) and Afslag BLV (dependance Belvédère Heerenveen), among others. Last month she exhibited with Bas Schippers in the building of Peter van Ginkel artist supplies (Groningen).

Now she comes to Y2 Damsterdiep with (new) work: “About a year ago I started painting on large pieces of canvas. I wanted to make a counterpart for my small works on wood and chose a size where I could, with my arms and legs wide open, exactly touch the corners of the canvas. Since then I have been working on larger canvases from time to time. Many paintings have been repainted, stretched on smaller frames or cut into pieces. Some of the works on display here have been made in the past two weeks. In the search for coherence, overlaps arise between colours and patterns, between old and new work. A flower appears three times. In addition, I also show a number of small works that are still at an early stage, first ideas, directions that I have not yet worked out, but in which I see something.”
