About this activity.

Expedition: Forrest is a plea to look at Dutch nature with wonder, magic and imagination.

This series consists of photos of pieces of forest that are highlighted as a theater set. This changes the perspective and focuses on a small scene of the forest. Ultimately, with a little magical thinking, you will also see a story emerge about new areas or strange creatures.

Nature is increasingly viewed through a chemical lens, which manifests itself in discussions about nitrogen and carbon dioxide, for example. Very important, of course, because these discussions offer practical goals and solutions to the problems that nature faces. However, elements such as wonder, magic and imagination are often powerless in these discussions. But if you add those elements, you see why it is so important to protect and cherish nature. You see that nature is stimulating, that it is alive and that it is more than numbers and chemical calculations. It tells stories, as it has been telling us for thousands of years.

Pictura.

Het Kunstlievend Genootschap Pictura in Groningen werd opgericht in 1832 met als doel: 'de beeldende kunst en de nijverheidskunst in de ruimste zin van het woord aan te moedigen en te bevorderen.' Pictura is gehuisvest in een mooi, monumentaal pand aan het Martinikerkhof in Groningen. In de sfeervolle zalen exposeren professionele kunstenaars van uiteenlopende richtingen en disciplines, maar de hoofdmoot is figuratief.
