Wood objects by Koos Lina in Atelier Henk Kraayenzank
About this activity.
This time Henk Kraayenzank receives Koos Lina for a new exhibition in the 'Guests' series.
The recent wood objects that will be on display there exude a freshness that will surprise visitors who know her older work.
In the 3rd year of her training at Minerva Academy, Lina starts with analogue photography. At the end of her studies, she goes to European cities with her Olympus OM1 and walks around with a camera all day long, observing and photographing people. In retrospect, she was influenced by the Paris Match, a French magazine to which her father, a French teacher, subscribed.
Photos of worn posters on the walls in the streets, the work of artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Raimond Haines later inspired her to make collages on square and rectangular canvases.
Until she no longer feels like working with paper and starts working with pieces of wood that she has been collecting for a long time.
"In Madeira it is so sunny, the sky so blue, all the colors so bright,
that I'm starting to long for bright colors in my work."
After buying bright pink socks, she opts for color and
working outside the lines.
Spending whole days painting wood without a fixed plan.
And arrange them until she has found the right shape.
