How free are the arts?
About this activity.
On Saturday, March 23, the Vrij Links foundation is organizing a meeting in the Der Aa Theater in Groningen. The meeting is part of Unchain my Art, a series in which 12 Dutch artists reflect in text and images on the state of freedom in the arts.
The central question during the meeting is: how free are the arts? Where does the threat come from? Are there limits to freedom in art? And of course: should something be done and if so, what?
The stage guests come from the world of the arts and will provide answers to these questions with introductions, interviews and film fragments.
Femke Lakerveld, actress and chairman of Vrij Links, will give an introduction to the theme. There is an interview with former TEFAF director Bart Drenth and podcast and theater maker Michiel Lieuwma. Human rights activist Peshmerge Morad plays the Armenian duduk. The chairman of the board of the Der Aa Theater, Gerrit Kamstra, will also take the stage to elaborate on the question of how free the arts are in Groningen.
In addition, a new work of art for Unchain my Art will be unveiled and documentary maker Hester Overmars will show the first images of the short film about Paul Haenen and Lale Gül.
