Groninger kunstkring De Ploeg in the Watertoren West.

Watertoren West
3 November 2024 to 31 December 2024

About this activity.

Groninger kunstkring De Ploeg in the Watertoren West.

From 3 November to 31 December 2024, two members of the Groninger Kunstkring de Ploeg will exhibit paintings in the Water Tower West.

Silvia Benniks started with mainly portrait painting. At the moment she is making more work on the subject of animals and flowers inspired by her often distant travels, sometimes combined with still life material. Her work comes across as magical, through the use of colour and by placing the subjects in an unusual situation. Her latest painting depicts two hummingbirds hunting for nectar, inspired by her last trip to Nicaragua last December. The combination with the huge parrot is a nice contrast between large and very small, splendor of colors and movement.

Lydia Jonkman (1971) studied at the AKI, (Artez) in Enschede and studied for a year with an Erasmus scholarship at the Accademia di Belle Arti. She lives in Siddeburen and mainly paints Groningen land, cows and flowers. She also paints vintage cars, pets and agricultural machinery on commission. Her work is cheerful and colorful with a subtle layering in the use of paint.

The opening is on Sunday 3 November from 15.00-17.00 hrs. You are most welcome!
