Festival & exploration Terug naar het begin
You can see them from afar. High on the Groninger wierden, the towers show you the way during the festival Back to the Beginning (TNHB). Hidden in centuries-old churches, beautiful things are happening: from enchanting music and disarming stories to exciting art projects! With a map in hand, cycle along winding roads and old sea dikes. Along the way you will meet rural artists, hospitable villagers and experience surprising expeditions and new productions in unique locations!
Art program Terug naar het begin
This year's festival once again offers a fine mix in the art program. In the Bierumer School you will experience Maaike Meindertsma's extraordinary art and video installation. During her residency, Maaike explores the rush around us and all the forms it can take. For example, she looks at what haste does to our bodies, but also reflects on how we as humans move forward in today's society. In the village garden of Oosterwijtwerd, you will listen to an ode to creativity and the place of the hut builder within our society during the audio installation SHELTER in your own built hut. Students of Academy Minerva and the Prince Claus Conservatory provide a multimedia installation and contemporary interpretation of Mary in the Maria Church in 't Zandt. Here they will give a 3-part performance where art and live music come together. Also with Sound Soils - Music in Context, immerse yourself in an aural art installation. In the church of Zeerijp you will hear walking interviews by Ruth Koops van 't Jagt with inhabitants from Eemsdelta and beyond. Let your body unwind and get carried away by conversations, sounds and music. Finally, you will find the visual art route of artists Kaneli & Smit, Wim Warrink and Joran van Soest in the festival area. Spread over 7 locations in the festival area, you will have the opportunity to get off your bike and dive even more into the landscape, to reflect, receive, see through, know or fathom.
