Exhibition Lieve van Loon en Elena Chiu in Wall House #2

Wall House #2
5 April 2025 to 17 August 2025

About this activity.

What happens to an object when you change its recognisable features? On Saturday, 5 April, Wall House #2 in Groningen will open the exhibition The Distortion of the Everyday, featuring works by Elena Chiu and Lieve van Loon. These Groningen-based artists showcase their unique perspectives on daily life in this exhibition.

Lieve van Loon graduated cum laude from Academie Minerva in Groningen in 2024 with her project The Distortion of the Everyday. She draws inspiration from ordinary objects and forms. By repeatedly drawing, painting, or sculpting an object or form, she gives it a new appearance or even its own character.

At Wall House, Van Loon presents the works Dining Room SceneKitchen Scene, and Greenhouse Scene. Each scene is created using various materials and techniques, such as stained glass, ceramics, drawings, and prints. In the Kitchen Scene, displayed where the original kitchen of Wall House #2 was located, she shows everyday kitchen objects, but without their original function.

Elena Chiu graduated in Product Design from Academie Minerva in Groningen in 2024. Her work combines technology, nature, and design. She presents two installations: DEADBUG STEREO (2022) and Symbiotic Stems (2024). Her installation DEADBUG STEREO demonstrates how technology works and makes unnecessary parts redundant.

Wall House #2.
