Exhibition Crime Scenes
About this activity.
Michiel Teeuw is an artist, designer and researcher, graduated from the Academy Minerva in Groningen. At the moment he is working at the Bierumer School on his new exhibition Crime Scenes.
This exhibition is part of Teeuw's broader investigation into the Monster Trial of Faan, in which Rudolf de Mepsche van Faan sentenced 21 homosexuals to death. The bodies were burned, but many documents remain. The subject of this exhibition is the Borg Byma, in which Rudolf de Mepsche lived. The building is no longer there, but excavations were made in the 1950s. For the past six months he has been collecting the necessary archive material: archaeological objects, drawings, photos and logs. During the (ongoing) process, Teeuw invited several people to interpret the materials. This leads to different representations of what the place could have looked like.
Are you curious about how this works, do you want to contribute to the research, or are you curious about the results? Michiel would like to welcome you to the Bierumer School. The exhibition with work in progress runs from Friday 3 February to Saturday 25 March.
