1. Forum Groningen
    Nieuwe Markt 1

Visual arts in Forum Groningen? Yes!

Hidden in places that you as a visitor can easily pass by or perhaps do not come at all. We are happy to take you on a journey of discovery to the hidden gems in the Forum. During ExpOOST we take a look at the interactive community clock Screen Time Forum of Helmut Smits, we visit Wervel, a 20 meter long LED sculpture made by Nicky Assman and we discover the work of Albert Geertjes: Ik zocht Groningen en vond een Kroonluchter ('I was looking for Groningen and found a Chandelier').

Go to forum.nl/expoost for more information and sign up for the guided tour.

2. Kunstlievend Genootschap Pictura
    St-Walburgstraat 1
    www.pictura-groningen.nl

Talent shows talent: In Line Out of Sight: Out of Sight In Line. Three young guest curators in training made an exhibition with work by artists who graduated this year from the Academy Minerva in Groningen and the Frank Mohr Institute.

Werk from Elise van Staveren, Nevena Nešović, Hannah Kiefmann, Beth Ka Yi Wong, Charlie Holper, Julie Leblanc, Matias Salgado, Sinne Brink, Sanne Lok, Radina Kordova, Azade Baloochi, Peyman Garami en Christy Groen.

The guest curators: Christina Arampatzi, Jennifer Hill and Derek Kuijper, students of Art History & Curatorial Studies (RUG).

3. Atelier SiO2
    Oudeweg 20
    www.jakobine.nl / www.rachelvanbalen.nl

There is a special occasion gallery in the SiO2 glass workshop. In addition to new and surprising work by Jakobine & Hein, there are colorful paintings by Rachel van Balen inspired by her drawings of wild plants and a retrospective of her work in public space.

Rachel will soon create a towering mural of approximately 50 m² in the same street, which will take the viewer on a journey through the neighborhood. Curious what that will look like? In a video presentation, exclusively shown during exOOST, Rachel gives you a preview of what's to come!

4. Galleria Unexpected
    Schuitendiep 47
    www.galleriaunexpected.com

Under the title Dasein und Ich, the driven visual artist Guus Slauerhoff exhibits paintings and objects with porcelain, which find their point of departure in complex emotions generated by war and violence. Reflection on this has given Slauerhoff the space to abstract from concrete reality in such a way that expressive universal images could arise. In addition, he considers this exhibition as a tribute to the people of Ukraine.

5. galerie with tsjalling:
    Kostersgang 26a
    www.withtsjalling.nl

Gallery owner Tsjalling Venema shows a selection from his own art collection in his gallery. As an inspiration for visitors, and to satisfy the curiosity of anyone who wonders what a gallerist has hanging on the wall at home. The exhibition is completed with works by artists from the gallery that are simply for sale. Tsjalling is happy to give you a personal tour during expOOST!

Finn Wagner, Sébastien Robert, Brigitte Louter en Igor Bobeldijk show in Obsoletely New! multidisciplinary installations with links to scientific, technological processes with a research-like slant. They make unusual assumptions. Nets end their role in the human environment and turn against us, Aurora Borealis raises its voice live from Lofoten, water fleas determine our view of time and space, robot creatures populate cooling systems of data centers. Old techniques and methods escape control; new creations and functions arise outside of man.

At 4 p.m. there is an opening and you can meet the artists.

7. Kunstpunt
    Trompsingel 27a
    www.kunstpuntgroningen.nl

The solo exhibition WAIT FOR END 🤣🤣🤣 can be seen at Kunstpunt, with a series of abstract paintings by Wouter Nijland. For The Choice of… he made a selection from the Kunstuitleen collection. Wouter Nijland himself will be present between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to explain his work, which is created using coded marbles, coins and dice.

In addition, at Kunstpunt you can see the unique photo series The Table of 10, made by photographer Erwin Olaf, who died last Wednesday. What is special is the experimental nature of the photos, for which he used residents of Groningen as models. In addition to the series, behind-the-scenes material will also be shown, showing a young Olaf at work in the Grand Theatre.
