Dystatic – 'I hope your summer is going good'

From September 1 to 30, 2024, Dystatic, artist from Canada, will exhibit a linocut 'I hope your summer is going good' in the window gallery 'De Prachtvink' at the Vinkhuizen shopping center, Platinalaan 505a, 9743 GZ Groningen.
'I hope your summer is going good' is a linocut of 20 x 30 cm on paper from 2024. In two printing runs, Dystatic has created a soothing image of a summer landscape in the vast expanses of Canada. He uses only one visual element: a loosely modeled, lancet-shaped drop with some minor variations. During the first printing pass in green, the shapes were printed vertically, during the second printing pass in blue, the same shapes were placed horizontally on the paper. Dystatic draws on the nature of his immediate urban environment as material to create his graphic work. He often uses leaves or parts of plants as a printing form. Nature and the city form a strict divide in Canada, just as the seasons in Canada are sharply separated by the continental climate: ice cold winters and warm summers. In the title, the Canadian mail art artist expresses his concerns about global climate change by desperately wondering whether summer can be any good there on the other side of the ocean.
Dystatic is a mail artist from Edmonton, Canada. In addition to collages and pass-through art, he has focused on making zines and graphic work. He regularly issues an international mail art call. The window gallery is an exhibition space that can only be viewed from the outside, but 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The gallery is illuminated until 11:00 PM.
