Duuster

MOW
24 September 2023 to 18 February 2024

About this activity.

More than twenty artists show work in Duuster, as diverse as the night itself.

Join us on a quest for dark vistas, scarce light, nocturnal hues and the silence of life outside the day. Discover the moon in all its facets. Delve deeper into the human and symbolic meanings of darkness. Find out what cannot stand the light of day and what secrets lurk in the shadows. Marvel at the moments when darkness envelops our vulnerability and when it is the backdrop for cheerfulness.

In Duuster you will see work by Chris Adriaan, Margreet Boonstra, Jan Pieter van den Bos, Regina Broersma, Nienke Bruinsma, Annemarie van Buuren, Hans Dingjan, Bernd Ihno Eilts, Ingeborg Entrop, Marijk Gerritsma, Ra van der Hoek, Annette Hoolsema, Herman Knottnerus, Maike van der Kooij, Sjoerd Kooistra, Marian Mijnhardt, Ben Rikken, Aart Rudolphy, Erica Scheper, Noah Slot, and Gerd Weitkamp.

more out of the exhibition

In the evening on the museum grounds you can look at the night sky in a special stargazing folly. During the exhibition you can participate in evening walks in beautiful Westerwolde, one of the darkest places in the Netherlands.

For our young and adventurous visitors, the museum has put together the Do-think-dare-dark route, which allows you to wander through the exhibition in a challenging way. As always, you can also get creative in the MOW.
