Are you a drawing professional or a first timer? Everyone is welcome to join our drawings sessions. We have some material you can use, but also bring your favourite tools (pens, pencils, markers, crayons, brushes…) and join! Every edition we invite a guest artist who can inspire us with a display of their work. For this edition, we’ve invited Klaske Bootsma.

Klaske Bootsma is a visual artist, living and working in Groningen. When she makes drawings, they are usually sketches for paintings. Making drawings gives her freedom to do things she normally wouldn’t do in painting. Instead of painting over mistakes with a new layer, she simply crosses out parts, or starts over on a new sheet of paper. This results in half-finished or discarded drawings which are often reused for taking notes, or calculating rent. Most of these sketches never turn into paintings, and become work in their own right.

Klaske will show a selection of these drawings during Drink & Draw: “They capture a specific moment really well, where my mind was, how judgmental I felt about my work, which ideas came together, and which were abandoned before the drawing was even finished.”

During this edition of Drink & Draw you can listen (and draw) to music that is selected by musician Ype Zijlstra (Geo).
