Mara Piccione – Slow Reducer

Kunstpunt Groningen
13 March 2025 to 12 April 2025

About this activity.

From large minimalist works to small colorful collages and monoprints, the new Studio Collection: Solo presents Slow Reducer, a solo exhibition by artist Mara Piccione, showcasing a variety of new works. Each piece is created using the screen-printing technique in a one-of-a-kind edition, making it truly unique.

Through years of working with graphic techniques, Piccione’s art has gradually evolved from figurative to abstract. A seemingly insignificant object, such as a small stone or a crumpled tissue, can suddenly take center stage in her work through striking line compositions. Her studio, the tools she uses, and the traces left behind by the creative process have also become increasingly important in her visual language. In her recent work, elements such as the grid of the cutting mat, drying racks, and ink color testers from the screen-printing process frequently reappear.

Slow Reducer will be on display from March 13 to April 12 in the Cella exhibition space at Kunstpunt Groningen. Visitors can not only enjoy Mara Piccione’s art, but also explore her favorite works from the Art Rental collection in De keuze van Mara Piccione ("Mara Piccione’s Choice").

Piccione on De keuze van:
"For this selection from the regular collection, I searched for connections with my own work and/or working process. Sometimes, it’s the texture of the artwork that appeals to me—painted, almost feeling like a digital grid, or completely wild and organic—the element of chance that you seek out, only to intervene and make it your own. I also find the abstract visual language in several works particularly intriguing."

Those who want to enjoy her own work or De keuze van for longer can borrow or purchase the artworks from Kunstpunt.
