Avant-garde and nobility at the Allersmaborg

Museum Wierdenland
24 June 2023 to 26 November 2023

About this activity.

About the rich history of the Allersmaborg in Ezinge and its special residents over the years, with an emphasis on the period as an artists' resort in the 1960s and 1970s when Annie Vriezen and Martin Tissing lived there.

The Allersmaborg is one of the last preserved Groningen borgs. What begins as a stately country house for distinguished families later becomes a home for the artist couple Annie Vriezen and Martin Tissing. They hospitably welcome artist friends to 'their' Allersmaborg, such as Edu Waskowsky, Sanne Sannes, Magdalena Abakanowicz and Gjalt Blaauw. They all live and work on this Ezinger deposit for a short or longer period of time. It's a life of freedom, art and partying. Nothing is too crazy in that lonely place surrounded by nature. The ultimate freedom, away from the everyday, and the magical atmosphere is what attracts, inspires and experiments the artists. Because of their innovative styles, many of them can be counted among the avant-garde. Discover their art and more at Museum Wierdenland.
