An ode to Wall House #2
About this activity.
The Wall House #2 house museum is an iconic destination for architecture fans and the masterpiece of the New York architect John Hejduk. Central to its design is a massive wall, 18.5 metres long by 14 metres tall, to which the rooms are attached. This creates a clear division between the rooms while at the same time linking them. The building directs its gaze outward to overlook the Hoornsemeer lake.
Over the course of the day and depending on the weather, the visitor’s experience of Wall House #2, inside and out, will vary. Changing exterior conditions further multiply an already abundant array of shapes, colours, symbols and fascinating details. Visiting the house is always a voyage of discovery, and it is a source of inspiration for many.
Following an open call, works by 10 artists practising in all disciplines were chosen to appear in An Ode to Wall House #2. The call asked artists to submit work inspired by Wall House #2. The theme encompasses not only the building and its architecture but also the surroundings and the local people.
The exhibition presents a mix of exciting interpretations of Wall House #2.
The selected artists:
Helene Ketzer / Jans Muskee / Anne-Will Lufting / Barbara Makkes / Sebastiaan Roodenhuis / Ekaterina Konovalova / Xandra Manuputty / Mateusz Tkaczen / Giorgia Lo Faso / Bouke Groen
Wall House #2.
