AKKA exhibition 'The Children's Book in Pictures'

Salon vanBeresteyn
4 October 2023 to 9 January 2024

About this activity.

AKKA Artists and the Veendam Library are jointly celebrating the opening of the Kinderboekenweek (Children's Book Week) with a new exhibition in Salon vanBeresteyn from October 4, 2023 to January 9, 2024. This special exhibition with the theme "The Children's Book in Pictures", brings together works of art that are inspired on children's literature.

The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the artists' association AKKA and the Veendam library with the aim of bringing the magic of children's books to life through art and thus encouraging young children to enjoy more reading and creativity. Visitors to the exhibition can immerse themselves in a world full of imagination. Each artwork is inspired by the artist's personal favorite children's book. From colorful paintings and illustrations to three-dimensional sculptures, this exhibition offers an artistic take on well-known stories.

The exhibition will be opened on October 4, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. by the Drenthe artist and children's book illustrator Geert Oldenbeuving with musical accompaniment Bert op 't Ende as Sparky Plucker from his theater solo Showtime!

In addition to AKKA art, during Kinderboekenweek (Children's Book Week), from October 4 to 15, there will be a pop-up exhibition of children's art based on the book Het Muizenhuis ('The Mouse House') by Sam and Julia, with unique handmade mouse houses as decor.
